Backward compatibility dead on the 360

From IGN

Microsoft VP Peter Moore may be taking on the role of the fat lady and singing backward compatibility a fond farewell in a video interview available today on gaming website Kikizo.

"Nobody is concerned anymore about backwards compatibility." Moore said. "We under promised and over delivered on that. It's a very complicated thing... very complex work. I'm just stunned that we have hundreds of games that are backwards compatible. More are coming, but at some point, you just go, there's enough, let's move on, or people aren't as worried about a game being backwards compatible -- and I like to think we've upheld our end of the bargain in making at least two or maybe three hundred games backwards compatible."

So in other words Mr. Moore, you're a lying sack of shit? I can't believe how big of an ass this guy is, every time I think this guy can't say anything worse he proves me wrong... so very wrong. Hello?? You and your cronies were pushing backwards compatibility like crazy. How it would open up a huge library, how buyers could get rid of their old xboxes, how every game would eventually be playable...... Now you're saying you've "upheld your bargain"? How you "under promised and over delivered"? Excuse, I have to go throw up now. I feel ashamed for even buying a shitbox360

GAHHHHH!!! You suck A18 (CPM)

Well after praising Kitty Media (Media Blasters) for correcting the horrible Bible Black: New Testament release I find out that A18 (CPM) who usually puts out pretty decent releases fucked the Angel Blade Returns disc. First issue the disc is only one new episode and to fill out the disc they stuffed a recap on the disc and with only the dub audio. While I don't have a huge problem with this, hell I buy 1 episode hentai dvds all the time, the fact that they charged $29.99 for it really doesn't sit well. The main problem however was the removal (or omission) of content. This is unforgivable, what ever the reason may be.

From the Animeondvd.com forums from user Curse:
"Well, the boys (animenation hentai forum users) discovered that the new Angel Blade DVD "Angel Blade Returns" doesn't have the extra sex scene with Nail and Angel Blade."

This sucks to no end and is really making me reconsider on buying any more releases from them. In a time when the anime market is losing tons of fans, you would think a company would go out of their way to try to keep some of them.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Kitty Media rocks! I take back all the nasty things I have said about them regarding the Bible Black: New Testament debacle. For those that don't know, a few months back Kitty Media released the first volume of Bible Black: New Testament (one of the best looking hentai ever made) in a dub only version. According to them it was because that was part of the licensing agreement. Many were pissed, including myself, and either didn't buy the title or returned/sold it after they found out. Well apparently Kitty Media listened. They went back to the licensor and not only negotiated using the original Japanese language track for volume 2 on up but also will release the first two episodes (from volume 1) as an extra on volume 2. Freaking sweet!!!!!!

As taken from Animeondvd.com

Online retailer Right Stuf has pulled the ADV Films title Prefectural Earth Defense Force from its sight today. They had added it about a week after the title was announced at Ushicon in Texas as the solicitation date for the title was nearing. In that report we were told that the title was not going to be in big box retailers, such as Best Buy since they only want the big sellers anyway, but that it would be available via web retailers and from ADV Films directly.

Right Stuf could not disclose the reason for the title being pulled but so we contacted Chris Oarr at ADV Films to find out what's going on with the title. "We're not exactly sure how PEDF ended up on Right Stuf, since we never intended to solicit it to retail accounts. It's an ADV "web exclusive" title, meaning that it will be offered via the ADV website only. That's partly why it has such a great price of just $12.98."

It's a shame that I won't be taking advantage of "such a great price".

Well after watching the first two volumes of Gankutsuou last week I got the urge to re-read the Alexander Dumas book The Count of Monte Cristo. The last time I read it was in the 10th or 11th grade and I remember it being a fast read........ Well I found something out today, the version we read was the abridged version. I went to the bookstore today and picked up the unabridged version (also picked up Stephen King's new novel "Cell". Seems a little silly so far :) ). The book is about 1500 freaking pages!!!! Oh well, I guess I better get started on it.

Wow, over the past few months I've been letting a lot of the anime I've been buying pile up. Since I wasn't feeling well this weekend I decide to tackle some of my backlog and all I can say is, wow.

Godannar - Vols. 2 & 3. A
Princess Tutu - Vol. 3. A
Gankutsuou - Vols. 1 & 2. A
Mermaid Forest - Vols. 1 & 2. A

I must say I was most impressed with Gankutsuou. Easily one of the best looking and intriguing shows I've seen in a long time. I was totally surprised by how much I like the show. Can't wait for volume 3, it makes me want to go back and read the Dumas classic which I haven't read since the 11th grade. Great stuff and oh yeah, the women are hot, even the old ones. Plus MASTURBATION! You can't beat that! Good stuff.

Oh yeah, *goes into Seinfeld mode* this "space pen" I got really is amazing. It writes upside down and underwater!!! Craziness, pure craziness

well after not updating for more than a year, I decided to start using this thing again. Lets see how long I can keep up with it this time :). Anyway, I know it's a little late but I'm going to list my top 5 shows of last year:

5) Shuffle: I know it has its haters, and yes i know it's clichéd, predictable, annoying, and has bad music but it has one huge plus going for it. Pretty girls!!

4) Animal Yokocho: A cute and funny lead character, stuffed animals, and wacky situations. Doesn't get much better than that.

3) ARIA: Who knew the life of gondoliers could be so awesome? Oh, did i mention that every female character in the show is a hottie? Plus no men! Can't beat that with a stick

2) Rozen Maiden ~ Traumend: I had a hard time putting this #2. The best show of the season on many lists, this show has it all. Drama, comedy, action. Easily the most emotional show of the season and does a great job of going from moments that make you smile to moments that make you cry.

1) Pani Poni Dash: While there doesn't seem to be many watching the show, this show easily is the funniest of the season and also throws a nice bit of fan service. Mix a great cast with unbelievable wackiness, tons of obscure anime, video game, & cult references, and awesome music and you get my favorite show of last season. I hope this show goes on forever.

Since the start of the whole Tenjho Tenge editing fiasco many months ago, there has been much attention brought to this subject. The nature and extent of the edits, the damage it did to CMX and manga community as a whole, and the lack of response from CMX on the subject. Being the only contact and the chief editor for CMX certainly didn't help Mr. Tarbox. It looks like he was the fall-guy. He fell on the proverbial sword. CMX response to this issue or the editing issue? Nothing, nada, zip, zilch, zero. I'm willing to bet money that CMX releases the next volume uncut and blames everything on Jake Tarbox. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...... Volume 2 comes out in June but pictures of the cover have already shown CMX's desire to still cover up all things sexual. Doesn't look good. I hope CMX bombs like everyone is predicting. DOOM..... DOOM...... DOOM.....

Let's see, I think I've gotten to the point in my anime hobby where I buy stuff because I can and not because I really enjoy it. As I look through my collection, there are tons of stuff I ask myself, "why the hell did you buy this?". Yeah it's a fun watch but was it worth the money you spent on it only to never watch it again? Anyway, there's also the little matter of me getting wrapped around the axel for little, stupid problems that pop in R1 releases. I spend way too much energy on things like: changed episode titles, missing openings, crappy logos, taglines, etc.. In the long run these things really aren't important. I think it might be time for me to hang up my hobby.

Wow, what a glorious day outside. Sunny, not too hot and not cold. The birds are chirping and all is right with the world :). If my allergies weren't acting up I wouldn't have a thing to complain about. Talk about weird.

Well, it's official. EVERYONE on the UNC Basketball team is leaving either due to graduation or to the NBA. We all knew it was coming but I was at least expecting 1 person to stay :(. Jackie Manuel, Jawad Williams, & Melvin Scott will graduate. Sean May, Rashad McCants, Raymond Felton, & Marvin Williams are all leaving early to go the NBA. That leaves us with........ Quentin Thomas & Reshawn (sp) Terry. Oh, at least we have some good freshman coming in next year. Good thing Roy won his national championship because at this rate it doesn't look like we'll have another one for a while.

Fought the Good Fight

Well, I am officially giving up my one man crusade of fighting anime releases that feel the need to litter the front cover artwork with blurbs, quotes, taglines, and from the sister's nephew's guy that got the assistant director of Photon coffee. At first blurbs were almost exclusively left to the likes of CPM and bad hentai, now it seems that every company except for Geneon and Rightstuf put them on the cover. Apparently due to the declining US anime market or something..... the funny thing is the company that was the worst at doing this before, CPM, no longer does it. Anyway, I fought the good fight, making my complaints known, offering alternatives, etc.. but no listened to me because it seems no one cares. Oh well, it's not the end of the world, just very annoying :/

Before anyone jumps all over me, I know! It's not the end of the world. It's just a cartoon. People are starving in blah, blah, blah. I know all that. That being said, I'm still seriously pissed.

Here is what Bandai said would be in the Vol. 1 of Scrapped Princess:
"The DVD release will feature both English and Japanese language tracks with an English language subtitle option, textless opening, textless endings, trailers, four page insert booklet, and more."

Here is what we got:
.......... oh, ok. We got the textless opening.

wtf is up with that? grrrr......
